SONJA PUTNAM

DIRECTOR

Sonja Putnam received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Missouri State University with her emphasis in Business Education in May 2009. While attending MSU, Sonja was a member of The Pride of Missouri State Color Guard, National Avenue Winter Guard, and Pride of Missouri State Winter Guard. As a member of the MSU winter guards, Sonja was a three-time finalist at the Winter Guard International World Championships.  Sonja performed with The Pride Marching Band and Color Guard in the London New Year’s Day Parade in 2006 and in the Tournament of Roses Parade in 2008. Sonja has choreographed, designed, and instructed various schools in Missouri and Nebraska, many of which have won their classes or earned medals from the Mid Continent Color Guard Association.
Currently, Sonja is in her fourth year as the Color Guard Director at Blue Valley High School after one year as the Assistant Director of the Smithville High School Color Guard and Winter Guard, three years as the Director at Odessa High School, and five years as a designer/choreographer for the University of Central Missouri Winter Guards.
